Since 2003 the Danang Sculpture Center has been a meeting point for international sculptors and Vietnamese stone carvers. So far, 10 European sculptors have frequently used our facilities with the help of our skilled carvers. They have also assisted sculptors at various sculpture symposiums in Vietnam. The main force behind the carvers' skills development is the Norwegian sculptor, Mr. Øyvin Storbækken. He took the initiative to establish the Center together with the Fine Art Association of Danang City.

The Center is located at the Non Nuoc village in Danang City of Vietnam. This village, under the famous Marble Mountains, is renowned among both Vietnamese and foreigners for its traditional stone carving. We work on a non-profit basis for the development of sculpture in Vietnam, focusing on training poor and disadvantaged youth in the art of carving and sculpturing and organising cultural exchanges between Vietnamese and international sculptors.

We welcome professional sculptors all over the world to work at our site throughout the year, in an area of long history of stone carving, nearby the beach with countryside life, small seafood restaurants and a market. We provide workshop, materials, equipment and tools for sculptors to work with or without the assistance of our carvers. We also provide accommodation next to the workshop with self - service kitchen, air - conditioner, bathroom and living room (2 double rooms and 1 single room). Some other supporting services are picking up at the airport, help to arrange trips to interesting places in Danang city (Cham Museum, Marble Mountains, Non Nuoc beach, etc.) and in neighboring provinces (the three world heritages in Central Vietnam including the ancient town of Hoi An, the old imperial capital of Hue and the Holy Sanctuary of My Son) and to some places relating to sculpture such as wood carving, silicon casting, bronze casting, etc. at sculptors' requests.

Our service tariff for sculptors is as follows:

Labour assistance    
• Young carvers (marble)   14 EUR/day/carver    
• Young carvers (granite or hard stone)   17.5 EUR/day/carver    
• Experienced carvers (marble)   24.5 EUR/day/carver    
• Experienced carvers (granite or hard stone)   28 EUR/day/carver      

Machinery, electric equipment     30 EUR/week    
Cutting machines, driller, drill compressor, matterlo compressor, air compressor, forklift, etc.    
   
* Marble, granite and sand stones are available for sale.

Note:    
* This service tariff is applied for sculptors who use no more than 1 carver of Danang Sculpture Center (DSC). If sculptors would like to use more than 1 carver, DSC will charge at commission price by negotiation. DSC hosts a maximum of 5 sculptors at one time.

* Bicycle is free for sculptors staying at DSC with a deposit of EUR30/unit. If sculptors would like to book stones in advance, the sculptors shall deposit 30% of estimated service fee within 15 days from the date of service confirmation or at least 1 month before their arrival.

* Payment is made at the end of staying time or everyweek at sculptors' disposal
