Global Stone Workshop


		Courses in alabaster mosaic/inlay To be held from the 15th to the 27th of September at the laboratory of Ditta Romano Bianchi Alabastri. Minimum 4, maximum 8 participants. The course leader is Artist Roberto Bianchi, son of Art Master Romano Bianchi, and an expert in alabaster. The cost of the course is EU 600 for 7 days. The course includes all the phases of the mosaic making process through the finished product: _ Preparation of the sketches for mosaic _ Planning of the work from the initial sketches _ Analysis of the diverse qualities of the stones _ Cutting of the stones in appropriate thickness _ Baking, colouring and drying of alabaster _ Cutting of the tiles for inlay/mosaic _ Assembly and gluing of the tiles _ Smoothing of the mosaic _ Glazing to make colours fast The course includes all the materials (stone, colours, glue, glazes, etc.) and the necessary tools. Drawing materials (paper, pencils, colours, etc.) are excluded. The price of the course also includes double-room occupancy accommodation at the Escaia holiday farm.				Courses in marble sculpting in Marina di Carrara, Italy. Sculptor Cristina Carusi will run the following courses 23 June - 04 July 12 days 776 Euro 15 -26 September 12 days 776 Euro These courses are designed for artists and creators not accustomed to working on marble, and will be given in English and in Carrarine. Leader in charge: Cristina Carusi, sculptor. www.carusisculpture.it Participants: minimum 4, maximum 8. Duration: 12 days. Hours of instruction: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Afternoon hours and Saturday mornings to be devoted to independent work. The cost includes workspaces appropriate to the technical level of participants, 2 medium size blocks of Carrara marble, as well as double-room occupancy accommodation at the Casa Albergo Turimar, plus breakfast buffet.
