Workshops, exhibitions, symposia and sales
of sculptures in Portugal.

Global Stone Workshop® is broadening its range of activities directly linked with the workshops.

Our idea is to offer workshop participants the possibility to show their work and take part in symposia organized in collaboration with private and public institutions.

This type of enrichment is the result of organizational efforts which have been undertaken over many years. We would have never been able to achieve it on our own. Global Stone Workshop® is a not-for-profit organization. It takes time to realize things without money. Portugal is the first country to open itself up to these opportunities.

Our partner is CENTRO INTERNACIONAL DE ESCULTURA, CIE, with which we have an 8-year old collaboration. Its founder, sculptor Moisés Paulo Preto, is building a new center just outside Odrinhas, a hamlet in the middle of a green landscape, 11 km from Sintra and 40 km from Lisbon.

The new center includes work spaces for sculpting stone, wood and metal, an exhibition hall and a sculpture park.  
Plus, locker rooms, bathrooms, showers, a kitchen and a veranda to relax and eat. The premises are large and can accommodate many artists.

Equipment and tools include compressors, power and hand tools and a store of marble and limestone in many colours.
In Odrinhas there are food stores (2), bars (2), restaurants (2), a church and a museum of Roman antiquities. The sea
is just 7 km away.

• Interested artists participate in normal workshops.
• Sculptures are the property of the artist and remain at CIE for 2 years to be shown in touring exhibitions (at no cost to the participant), at a gallery in central Lisbon (for a participation fee) and as reference material for symposia
(CIE is the preeminent organizer of symposia in Portugal).
• Should an artist be selected for a symposium, he/she will be reimbursed for travel and lodging expenses and will receive monetary compensation for his/her work.
